Bringing new life to our community.
Taking care of the planet means taking care of people, too – and it starts in our neighborhood.
When we outgrew our old home and began planning our new one, we knew it needed to be built in the right place, and in the right way – not just for our associates, but with the community and planet in mind.
Planners for the city of Lincoln had a similar mindset when beginning the Antelope Valley redevelopment project. The goal: improve the corridor’s transportation and flood control infrastructure while revitalizing a blighted community through residential and commercial opportunities.
What better place for us to plant our flag?
Ground broke on Assurity Center in 2009; about two years later, we moved into our new home, positioned on nearly 10 acres along Antelope Creek.
We all know that insurance is about taking care of people. But as stewards of our community, “taking care” has to mean more than just our customers’ needs. It must mean corporate social responsibility – we want to ensure the community we call home prospers, too.
Through our partnership with NeighborWorks Lincoln, a nonprofit dedicated to sustainable homeownership, we helped create a front door to the Antelope Valley community – 24 of them, in fact. Two dozen new homes, many designated for low- to moderate-income, first-time homeowners, now sit in Antelope Square, just a couple blocks to our east. As the 2020s continue, the revitalization of Antelope Valley does too – particularly in the burgeoning Telegraph District due south of us.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, we looked at other ways we could help our community including donating $30,000 to Lincoln Public Schools to help local students and families, and supplying nearly 2,000 protective masks to local hospitals. We believe the future of our community is bright – and we’re proud to be a part of it.
